Our QA Process

Seven checkpoints between the mandi and your warehouse

  1. Sourcing inspection

Raw lots are inspected at the mandi or farmer aggregator for variety, crop year, visible damage and moisture before purchase. Lots that fail are simply not bought.

  2. Pre-cleaning

De-stoners, aspirators and magnetic separators strip out stones, dust, stalks, pod fragments and metal before the product enters the grading line.

  3. Size grading

Multi-deck sieves separate the lot into the size or count grades your contract specifies — critical for Kabuli chickpeas and bold Toor.

  4. Sortex colour sorting

Optical sorters reject discoloured, weevil-damaged, shrivelled and foreign seeds, giving a uniform appearance across every bag.

  5. Laboratory testing

Each lot is tested for moisture, purity, admixture, foreign matter and broken percentage. Third-party testing for pesticide residues, aflatoxin and heavy metals is arranged where the destination requires it.

  6. Pre-shipment sampling

Representative samples are drawn from the packed lot and couriered for buyer approval. Loading only starts once you have signed off.

  7. Loading supervision

Our staff supervise bag count, container condition, fumigation and sealing, and share time-stamped photos and the seal number the same day.

Lab Testing

Every parameter on your contract is measured, not assumed

Routine parameters are tested on every lot at the processing unit. Where a destination market has specific residue or contaminant limits — the EU, the UK, the USA, Australia — we commission NABL-accredited or international labs (SGS, Intertek, Bureau Veritas) to certify compliance before shipment.

Moisture

Oven or moisture-meter tested; controlled to prevent mould and caking in transit.

Purity & admixture

Percentage of other varieties, other grains and weed seeds in a representative sample.

Foreign matter

Stones, dust, husk and organic matter by weight after sieving.

Broken & damaged

Splits, insect damage, shrivelled and discoloured seeds counted per 100 g.

Size / count

Sieve analysis or count-per-ounce for graded products such as Kabuli chickpeas.

Germination

For sprouting-grade mung and whole pigeon peas, on request.

Pesticide residue

Multi-residue screening to destination MRLs via accredited third-party labs.

Aflatoxin & heavy metals

Certified where required by the importing country's food authority.

Grading & Sorting

From field-run lot to export grade

A field-run lot typically arrives with 3–6% impurities and mixed sizes. Our processing partners run it through a fixed sequence that brings it to contract specification:

  • Pre-cleaner & de-stoner — removes bulk trash and stones
  • Gravity separator — separates light, immature and shrivelled seed
  • Size grader — splits into contract size/count grades
  • Optical sortex — rejects off-colour and foreign seeds
  • Polishing (dals) — water or food-grade oil finish, or oil-free
  • Weighing & bagging — automatic filling to ±0.1 kg, stitched and stacked
